A Train Ride..

Yesterday was a day filled with nostalgia. The morning was busy with not a minute to rest. I had an incessant cough and plenty of chores to complete before catching my mid-day ride.

I was on board the train, drugged, drowsy and tired, fast asleep even before the TT could confirm who I was. After over an hour of being under a Coma, I woke up.

This is not how I usually travel. I bury my head in a book or drown myself in music. I was too weary to indulge in any of them and just decided to look out.

Voila!

SERENITY !!

The sky was cast a shade of nearly there dark grey. I could sense gentle cool warm breeze reminiscent of rain. The paddy fields shaking to some inaudible tunes and the trees joining as back up. Distant mountains standing still, hiding behind a misty veil, waiting for something.

Too much take in and just short of words to express what I felt. Something somewhere clicked in me. I had hit upon my SERENE spot.

Like a kid looking out the window, I sat through the rest of the journey, chin on hand, lost in nature, lost in thoughts. And just for ambience, I tuned in to some music. Bliss!

I was looking at fields, distant lights, some cattle, peace and quiet. After some time there were more fields, more distant lights, more cattle and more peace and quiet.

Soon I found myself looking at other trains rolling by. Their passengers at the compartment doors looking tired, relieved, excited, relaxed and everything else that reflected my state of mind. I was awash with memories of my days spent riding the local train, enjoying a bit of crazy free-spirited time. My memories, sweet memories, made me ponder on the changes in me and my life.

My silent soliloquy was interrupted by city lights and I realised the train was rolling to a stop. Arrived at the destination.

I bundled up everything and got down with just one thought. I should do this more often. A Train Journey to the Centre of my Heart. A Train Journey do some research on the Lost and Found. A train journey for feel relieved, excited, relaxed and more than anything Peaceful and Quiet.
